What it is

Trace Minerals is an iron-free complex of eleven trace elements in one vegetarian capsule. Zinc, copper and manganese come as Albion TRAACS bisglycinate chelates and molybdenum as a TRAACS glycinate chelate, forms in which the mineral is bound to the amino acid glycine. Selenium is L-selenomethionine, chromium is ChromeMate polynicotinate, and silica comes from horsetail herb. Iodine, potassium, boron and vanadium complete the panel.

Who it's for

Trace minerals act as cofactors for enzymes throughout the body: zinc and selenium in immune and antioxidant systems, iodine in thyroid hormone production, chromium and vanadium in normal glucose metabolism, molybdenum in sulfur metabolism, boron and silica in bone and connective tissue. This capsule is for an adult, or a teen aged 14 or older, who wants a single daily source of these elements without iron, either for maintenance or for replenishment during a practitioner-guided plan. The label states it is not for anyone under 14.

Format and how to take

Vegetarian capsules, 30 per bottle. Label directions: adults, 1 capsule daily or as directed by a healthcare professional. Not to be consumed by those under age 14.

Per capsule: Iodine (as potassium iodide) 200 mcg; Zinc (as TRAACS zinc bisglycinate chelate) 30 mg; Selenium (as L-selenomethionine) 200 mcg; Copper (as TRAACS copper bisglycinate chelate) 2 mg; Manganese (as TRAACS manganese bisglycinate chelate) 4 mg; Chromium (as chromium polynicotinate, ChromeMate) 200 mcg; Molybdenum (as TRAACS molybdenum glycinate chelate) 250 mcg; Potassium (as potassium chloride) 100 mg; Boron (as boron citrate complex) 200 mcg; Vanadium (as bisglycinato oxovanadium) 150 mcg; Silica (from horsetail, Equisetum arvense, whole herb) 100 mcg.

Other ingredients: Vegetarian capsule (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, water), ascorbyl palmitate, microcrystalline cellulose.

Precautions

Not to be consumed by those under age 14. Keep out of reach of children. Zinc (30 mg), selenium (200 mcg) and iodine (200 mcg) per capsule are well above their Daily Values, so check with a practitioner before combining this with other mineral supplements. Do not use if the shrinkwrap is broken or missing. Store in a cool, dry place (59 to 85°F) away from direct light.
